Curatorial Project: Group Exhibition
Moving Image Gallery, New York, NY
May 3 - May 31, 2002

This curatorial project grew out of a conversation with Michele Thursz, director of Moving Image Gallery in New York. We were discussing the difficulties of exhibiting net art in galleries and museums. Most net art is meant to be experienced as a solitary encounter. And many net artists saw their practice as oppositional to art world institutions. Putting net art in the gallery involves a recontextualization that can radically alter the experience and significance of the work.

net.ephemera was an attempt to work around this problem by exhibiting ephemera--drawings, diagrams, notes, receipts and other physical artifacts--related to the making of net-based projects.
