is the solution
DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR CAN OF NOTHING.
Hunger may seem like a daunting problem. But, it isn’t an insurmountable one. We live in one of the richest countries in the world and have more than enough food to feed everyone. It’s just a matter of enough of us making the choice to help.
We’re been selling cans of Nothing at local grocery and retail stores with the proceeds going to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Each empty can represents the emptiness on the dinner plate of another hungry Rhode Islander. And more importantly, each can purchased replaces that emptiness with 10 pounds of nourishing food
In the 2010 campaign, we were surprised at how many physical cans were returned – filled with donations. This accounted for almost 50% of our campaign fundraising efforts.
This year, you can continue to do something – and we’ve made it even easier. Throughout the month of September, you can bring your can back to the participating locations listed below. It doesn’t matter if the can is rattling from the loose change that’s been put into it from last year’s purchase, or whether you’ve just discovered this opportunity and have rallied to fill a collection of cans from generous friends and colleagues – every little but helps put food on your neighbor’s plates.
The Rhode Island Food Bank accepts returned cans throughout the year.
